Care & Troubleshooting

Thanks for covering your pots, not the planet.

Bare Pots aren’t made to last forever, but with a bit of care they’ll look good for longer – and when you’re finished with them, they can go in the recycling.

DISASSEMBLing your Bare Pot

Disassembling your Bare Pot is simple, it’s just the assembly steps in reverse.

  • Slightly lift the Bare Pot (not the nursery pot).

  • Slide the bottom tab upward so it releases from the slit.

  • Gently slide the top tab downward and pull it out.

  • Flatten your Bare Pot to store or recycle later

Tip: Don’t lift the plant by the Bare Pot, always hold the plastic nursery pot underneath.

How to Move Your Plant Safely

If you’re moving your plant across the room, to a new home, or to the car the safest method is:

  • Disassemble your Bare Pot first.

  • Move your plant in its sturdy plastic nursery pot.

  • Reassemble your Bare Pot at the new spot using the simple tab system.

This protects both your plant and your Bare Pot from accidental tears or pressure on the tabs.

Everyday Care

  • Indoor use only – Bare Pots are made for indoor environments.

  • Always use a tray – keep your grow pot in its tray inside the Bare Pot.

  • Avoid standing water – if water spills on the Bare Pot, wipe it off immediately.

  • Gentle handling – avoid dragging the Bare Pot across surfaces or leaning heavy items on it.

Water & Moisture

  • Bare Pots have some water resistance, but they are still cardboard.

  • Do not water your plants directly into the Bare Pot. Always water into the inner nursery pot, over a sink or tray.

  • Let excess water drain fully before placing the nursery pot back into the Bare Pot.

Sun & Heat

  • A little bit of indirect sun is fine.

  • Over time, harsh direct sunlight can fade colours and weaken the cardboard – just like it does with furniture and fabrics.

  • Keep Bare Pots away from heaters, open flames such as candles etc, and other heat sources.

Common Issues & Fixes

“My Bare Pot has warped or gone soft.”

This usually means it has been exposed to water or high humidity.

  • Remove the nursery pot and allow the Bare Pot to dry thoroughly in a warm, dry spot (not in direct sun or on a heater).

  • After you have gently wiped it dry you may want to place it under a heavy book.

  • If it’s badly damaged, it might be time to recycle it and replace.

‘I accidentally ripped my Bare Pot”

It happens! We’re all about reducing waste, and trust us, we’ve ripped a few too.

  • If it’s just a tab, you can often save it by adding a little sticky tape on the inside/back.

  • Make sure the tape isn’t visible from the front so your Bare Pot still looks its best.

  • When it’s time to recycle your Bare Pot, just peel off the tape first so it stays kerbside-friendly.

Want to help us make Bare Pots even better?

We love learning and improving. If you’re happy to, reach out with a quick photo and let us know what happened. Your feedback helps us tweak and refine future batches and as a thank you, we may even send you a little discount code to replace it.

“My plant pot doesn’t fit properly.”

  • Check that your nursery pot matches the size guide for the Bare Pot you purchased.

  • If it’s too tight, don’t force it – this can damage both the Bare Pot and your plant. Reach out and we’ll help work out the best size.

Ready to say goodbye?

Once your Bare Pot has done its job, just remove any labels or tape and place the cardboard in your household recycling (check your local council guidelines).
